One Century of Taro Okamoto

July 20(wed.)2022-November 20(sun.)2022

July of this year will see the opening of the ‘Taro Okamoto’ exhibition in which this foundation is participating as one of the organizers. Unrivaled in the history of Taro Okamoto exhibitions for both quality and quantity, this retrospective will travel from Osaka to Tokyo and then Nagoya. Not only will it present all of his most famous works, but it will also provide a priceless opportunity to experience the full scope of his art.

In conjunction with the retrospective, this exhibition will present an overview of the eighty-four years of Taro Okamoto’s life as an artist together with the projects that have taken place since his death and the activities carried out by the Memorial Museum over a period of more than twenty years. Gallery One will trace the history of his creativity from the 1940s to the 1980s, while Gallery Two will introduce the activities subsequent to his death. In addition, a treasured work he produced immediately following his resumption of activities in Japan (1947) will be on view for the first time.

We sincerely hope you will enjoy this short trip into ‘One Century of Taro Okamoto.’
